Career Counselling
Career development is a lifelong process that is influenced by a variety of factors, including your personal values, interests and abilities. Career counselling can help you get to know and understand yourself and the job market so that you can make better decisions about your next steps.
Who is career counselling intended for?
Career counselling can be suitable for everyone - for Masters and Bachelors, for freshmen and graduating students or graduates. FSV UK offers the services of a career counsellor free of charge to all its students and recent graduates.
What can you expect from career counselling?
- A career counsellor is someone you can talk to about your ideas, feelings and concerns about your career and education choices, someone who can help you sort out your thoughts.
- A career counsellor can help you find and navigate sources of information related to education and work.
- A career counsellor can give you feedback on your resume or cover letters.
- A career counsellor can help you determine next steps and create a plan to achieve your goals.
- A career counsellor will not find a job for you or tell you how to make a decision, but will help you figure it out for yourself.
A few examples of questions that bring students to career counselling:
"I'm already in my third year and I have no idea what I want to do."
“I'm considering several options, but I'm having a hard time choosing between them.
"I enjoy the field of study, but I have no idea what I want to do when I graduate."
"I know what kind of work I want to do, but I'm not sure what would be the best follow-up field of study for me."
"I would like to know what kinds of jobs are suitable for graduates in my field."
"I like a lot of different subjects and I keep changing majors because I'm not sure which one is the best for me."
"In a year, I would like to continue studying the chosen field, but now I have a break. How can I make the best out of the free year?"
"I really wanted to study this field but I got in and now I don't enjoy it at all."
"My parents wanted me to study this field, but I'm not sure if it's what I want."

Security measures at FSV UK
In response to the December tragic events at the Faculty of Arts, the FSV UK management pays increased attention to ensuring security in the faculty buildings. Along with the activation of existing security features, we are taking further conceptual steps. -
Call for 4EU+ minigrants for 2024
Charles University supports teams collaborating within the 4EU+ Alliance through so-called mini-grants. For the year 2024, teams comprising academics from Charles University and at least two other 4EU+ universities can apply for financial support in this seed-funding project scheme. -
Cancellation of teaching and restricted operation at FSV UK on 22 December 2023
Due to the tragic events at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, on Friday 22 December 2023, all classes at FSV UK will be canceled and the operation of the faculty will be restricted. We therefore recommend to all FSV UK students and employees that they do not visit the faculty buildings on 22 December. -
Building A of the Jinonice Campus opens on 13 December 2023
We would like to inform you with pleasure that this Wednesday, December 13, we are opening building A in the Jinonice Campus, i.e. the extension, which is also the entrance to the entire faculty complex. The most important part of building A is the new faculty library. It will offer more than 40,000 volumes, individual and team study rooms, a night study room or a relaxation zone. -
FSV UK charity Christmas event for homeless people
FSV UK has once again prepared a faculty charity Christmas event for its employees. This year it will be focused on helping homeless people. We are launching the event on 28 November 2023 on the global day of generosity and good deeds as part of Giving Tuesday. If you have the opportunity and desire to participate in this charity event, you can do so until Monday 18 December 2023. -
