Career development is a lifelong process that is influenced by a variety of factors, including your personal values, interests and abilities. Career counselling can help you get to know and understand yourself and the job market so that you can make better decisions about your next steps.
Who is career counselling intended for?
Career counselling can be suitable for everyone - for Masters and Bachelors, for freshmen and graduating students or graduates. FSV UK offers the services of a career counsellor free of charge to all its students and recent graduates.
What can you expect from career counselling?
- A career counsellor is someone you can talk to about your ideas, feelings and concerns about your career and education choices, someone who can help you sort out your thoughts.
- A career counsellor can help you find and navigate sources of information related to education and work.
- A career counsellor can give you feedback on your resume or cover letters.
- A career counsellor can help you determine next steps and create a plan to achieve your goals.
- A career counsellor will not find a job for you or tell you how to make a decision, but will help you figure it out for yourself.
A few examples of questions that bring students to career counselling:
"I'm already in my third year and I have no idea what I want to do."
“I'm considering several options, but I'm having a hard time choosing between them.
"I enjoy the field of study, but I have no idea what I want to do when I graduate."
"I know what kind of work I want to do, but I'm not sure what would be the best follow-up field of study for me."
"I would like to know what kinds of jobs are suitable for graduates in my field."
"I like a lot of different subjects and I keep changing majors because I'm not sure which one is the best for me."
"In a year, I would like to continue studying the chosen field, but now I have a break. How can I make the best out of the free year?"
"I really wanted to study this field but I got in and now I don't enjoy it at all."
"My parents wanted me to study this field, but I'm not sure if it's what I want."

News in the operation of Opletalova library
Opletalova library is now accessible to FSV UK students even when the librarian is not there. Just come between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. and scan your student card to open it. In the library and associated study room, you will find study spaces, a calm and inspiring environment, as well as a self-service copier in MyQ mode. -
Writing Point will help with academic writing in English
The FSV UK Language Centre offers FSV UK academic staff and doctoral students personal or online consultations regarding their writing in English. We’ll talk to you about the ideas you wish to convey and to whom, clarify the purpose of the text you are writing, suggest writing strategies for achieving this purpose, and guide you in your revisions. These consultations are not a proofreading or copy-editing service. -

A set of recommendations was created at FSV UK, which aims to support our educators in the informed and conscious use of AI in academic activities. The recommendations emphasize the academic goals of FSV UK and contain specific examples and tips on how AI can be used. -
Current information on the flood situation
The faculty’s operations remain unaffected. Students directly affected by the flood situation will be handled on an individual basis. We continue to monitor, evaluate, and take all necessary actions as the situation evolves. -

We bring you an overview of interesting trainings and webinars from the Scite_ and SciFlow platforms. The webinars are focused on the introduction of those platforms, the use of AI in teaching and integrity during the preparation and publication of an academic article. -
