Career Counselling
Career development is a lifelong process that is influenced by a variety of factors, including your personal values, interests and abilities. Career counselling can help you get to know and understand yourself and the job market so that you can make better decisions about your next steps.
Who is career counselling intended for?
Career counselling can be suitable for everyone - for Masters and Bachelors, for freshmen and graduating students or graduates. FSV UK offers the services of a career counsellor free of charge to all its students and recent graduates.
What can you expect from career counselling?
- A career counsellor is someone you can talk to about your ideas, feelings and concerns about your career and education choices, someone who can help you sort out your thoughts.
- A career counsellor can help you find and navigate sources of information related to education and work.
- A career counsellor can give you feedback on your resume or cover letters.
- A career counsellor can help you determine next steps and create a plan to achieve your goals.
- A career counsellor will not find a job for you or tell you how to make a decision, but will help you figure it out for yourself.
A few examples of questions that bring students to career counselling:
"I'm already in my third year and I have no idea what I want to do."
“I'm considering several options, but I'm having a hard time choosing between them.
"I enjoy the field of study, but I have no idea what I want to do when I graduate."
"I know what kind of work I want to do, but I'm not sure what would be the best follow-up field of study for me."
"I would like to know what kinds of jobs are suitable for graduates in my field."
"I like a lot of different subjects and I keep changing majors because I'm not sure which one is the best for me."
"In a year, I would like to continue studying the chosen field, but now I have a break. How can I make the best out of the free year?"
"I really wanted to study this field but I got in and now I don't enjoy it at all."
"My parents wanted me to study this field, but I'm not sure if it's what I want."

Operation of the Hollar building during its upcoming renovation
From June 17 to 21, 2024, selected rooms in the Hollar building will be cleared out and furniture will be moved. Normal operation will not be restricted by this. On June 24, 2024, construction work will begin in the rear section of the building and will continue until the beginning of the winter semester. From this date, the Hollar building will experience several operational restrictions. -
May in Motion staff challenge results
72 employees and 11 teams took part in the FSV UK May in Motion challenge. The Head of the Well-Being Working Group Zuzana Kasáková and the Head of the Sustainability Working Group Petra Koudelková presented the prizes to the winners at the staff party on 6 June 2024. We congratulate the winners on their amazing performances and we thank everyone who got involved and did something for their mental and physical health and for the environment around us. -
Call for the second round of SEED 4EU+ initiative
The 4EU+ Alliance announces the second round of the SEED 4EU+ initiative, which provides financial support for the implementation of innovative projects aimed at strengthening of cooperation between member universities. The online information session will be held on Friday, 21 June 2024 from 3:00 p.m. The deadline for submitting the project proposal to the FSV UK Research Office is 23 September 2024. -
June party for FSV UK employees
We cordially invite FSV UK employees and their families to the FSV UK June Party, which will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on the premises of the Start Sports Club on Střelecký ostrov. -
4EU+ Grant Support Service
The UK European Centre – Department for Science and Research is introducing the 4EU+ Grant Support Service (GSS). The aim of the service is to assist academics in selecting relevant seed funding calls within the Alliance, particularly in finding other funding opportunities. -
Call for the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for July-September 2024 is now open
The Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Call for July-September (included) 2024 is now open. Applications are submitted through the IS Věda application in the PAS (Projects and Competitions) module by 31st May 2024 at 3. p. m.
